Circles appear to us in the world around both as a shape and as a movement.

A circular form attracts attention and increases focus and concentration in a certain way. There is a search for a center in this form, an investigation for a difference from what is in the middle and what is at the outline. Eyes look for a pattern which points out the core of this ball or circle or we might give in and find a couple of natural centers or no points of this kind – but we had to have the look.

We might detect a circle in shapes or in a composition of shapes, even if none of them has a circular form. A very old stone found on the beach is polished towards the round form. A child paints the crown of the tree as a circle, seeing this contour, which in fact is formed by the influence of the surrounding light. Creatures roll together to a circular shape to avoid freezing or to have the body and mind protected and to concentrate the energy safely in the middle.

It is special and magical for us to look deep in our love’s round eyes and to see all the world in them. It is comfortable to hold a circular shape in our hands, whilst other shapes can feel disturbing or even dangerous. Our Earth is a ball and as we live on the outskirts of it, it has been essential for mankind to investigate the inner parts of it to be able to feel safe to live where we are.

The circular form is archetypical for us and that might be the reason, why it can make us smile and feel happiness, when we meet it.

While we still are capable to explore the circular form by being able to approach it from all sides, either through moving around it or by having our eyes detecting it, a circular movement touches other – and also worrying dimensions.

The circle which is drawn by planets in the universe brings our understanding to the limits of our imagination. The cycles of life in the garden, which from blossoming flowers in the summer through fall and winter demolishes and turns the plant’s material to carry new life in the spring, is a practical knowledge we have achieved, but still hard to understand.

We can experience, that our life runs in circles and what we once thought, we had left, comes back to us in an inconvenient way. The fascination of a movement and journey around our planet is still an experience, which only few have experienced and it is in any case connected with risks, whether it might be carried out on earth or in the height.

Everyone knows the feeling of driving in a circle to arrive at a desired destination, caused by low local knowledge, and not being able to find the right way and to get into desperation about wasted time or because of getting too late for the appointment. Finally we have the circle of life with our kids growing and moving into a life situation, which we once left and us selves getting closer to the end of our time – maybe the most scary and highly tabooed phenomena in our societies.

In the end a consciousness about circles also constitutes the purpose of our lives: To focus on and to use the power we bring with us to turn bad circles to better ones.
